Wow . . . 1 year . . . 365 days . . . 8,760 hours . . . 525,600 minutes . . .
How do I sum up all of the events that have happened in your first year? You've always been ahead of the curve when it comes to developmental milestones . . . from rolling over WAY too early to walking before you're 10th month! Now you're running!! I could hardly keep up with you in the park today.
Wild Thing . . . Where the Wild Things Are was what your mommy chose for your party theme . . . it seems appropriate too! That's always been one of my favorite stories . . . hope it's one of yours in the years to come. You are a bit of a "while thing," and there isn't much that will deter you once you set your sights on something.
One of your favorite things to do right now IS to read . . .
. . . always read!
And how do I know there are 525,600 minutes in a year? Well, you can use a calculator . . . or you can read the words to a song, "Seasons of Love," written by Jonathan Larson and featured in the Broadway play Rent. Don't bother with the play . . . it's just a story of life told from the viewpoint of a bunch of whiny young adults. The words to the song are thought-provoking:
Five hundred
twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure - measure a year
In daylights - in sunsets
In midnights - in cups of coffee
In inches - in miles
In laughter - in strife
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life
How about love
How about love
How about love
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Journeys to plan
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life
Of a woman or a man
In truth that she learns
Or in times that he cried
In bridges he burned
Or the way that she dies
Its time now to sing out
Though the story never ends
Let’s celebrate
Remember a year in the life of friends
Remember the love
Remember the love
Remember the love
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Moments so dear
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure - measure a year
In daylights - in sunsets
In midnights - in cups of coffee
In inches - in miles
In laughter - in strife
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life
How about love
How about love
How about love
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Journeys to plan
Five hundred twenty-five thousand
Six hundred minutes
How do you measure the life
Of a woman or a man
In truth that she learns
Or in times that he cried
In bridges he burned
Or the way that she dies
Its time now to sing out
Though the story never ends
Let’s celebrate
Remember a year in the life of friends
Remember the love
Remember the love
Remember the love
Measure in love
Seasons of love
Seasons of love
So much can happen in just a single year, but always remember this:
"If you don't do wild things when you're young, you won't have anything to smile about when you're old!"
