I don't know who comes up with these things . . . it seems everyone must have their 15 minutes of fame! You don't yet have a sibling, so you're exempt this year!
However, I must, by social norms, acknowledge the fact that I do have a sibling! Sometimes I'm grateful I have only one . . . other times I wish there were at least 6 of us. I've always been a bit jealous of really large families . . . lots of kids . . . lots of cousins . . . lots of fun . . . and drama . . . big families seem to have lots of drama!
I love my sister . . . have always loved her. I can't say I've always "liked" her, but if you ask her, she'd probably tell you the same thing. We're 16 months apart . . . I was born in February, a Pisces, a dreamer . . . she was born in May, a Taurus, hard-headed . . . like our "star signs" we're almost polar opposites. But we have a lot in common too: we're both passionate about family, hard workers, defender of people, fair-minded, emotional, soft-hearted. She's always been half my size, so I assumed the role of "protector' with her from day 1. That's not to say I didn't pick on her from time to time . . . I just wouldn't let anyone else . . . well, except that one time I got caught up in the moment with a girl named Carol Dorman. Your Auntie M was following us one time, and Carol didn't want her to come . . . being much younger than Carol, I wanted to be "cool," so we picked her up and dropped her in an ant pile. Needless to say, she suffered quite a number of bites. She reminds me of this incident from time to time, and I always feel bad about it. In my short list of "regrets," that would hit the top!
Anyway, today's a day to celebrate our siblings. My sister created this collage last year and posted it to Facebook. Figured I'd put it here:
"Siblings: Children of the same parents, each of whom is perfectly normal until they get together." ~ Sam Levenson
