While in Virginia, the Captain and I did some touristy stuff . . . 'cause I love a good adventure!
First stop: Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home
Recognize the building? No? Take a look at the back of a nickel . . .
Next Stop: The University of Virginia (do not refer to the campus as "Campus" . . . they prefer the term "The Grounds"), conceptualized by Thomas Jefferson himself!
"The Lawn" . . . looking at The Rotunda . . . student housing in open hallways to the left and right |
Study Hall inside The Rotunda |
Another Stop (several along this road actually): Cider Houses, Wineries and Breweries on the Rockfish Valley Highway
Oh . . . and guess who they call "the father of wine and wineries in Virginia?" Yep . . . Thomas Jefferson! Now there's a "Renaissance Man" for you!
“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from
achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental
attitude.”
~ Thomas Jefferson
Last Stop: Moose's Restaurant by the Creek, where we had breakfast before heading home and where we were "Moose - ified"
