What's Your Favorite _______________ Yaya?

4 February 2017

Was reading through some FB posts the other day, and some people were completing silly surveys on what their favorites things were. Thought this would be a light post today . . . but things change from year to year . . . so these lists . . . as you'll find with yourself . . . are always fluid.

  • Dessert: pretty much anything Key Lime . . . Godiva Key Lime Truffles . . . pie . . .
  • Color: sort of depends on the day . . . most days I'd say red . . . red just screams life
  • Song: this one's tough since my taste in music is pretty extreme . . . lately it's been "Gold" by Imagine Dragons . . . I think I've worn out my CD playing that one over and over again
  • Junk Food: not a huge junk food junkie . . . sort of partial to MoonPies
  • Fruit: easy . . . strawberries . . . covered in chocolate
  • Movie Star: really not "star struck" . . . if I have to choose, I'd say Sean Connery . . . fell in love with him at about age 5 . . . I do like Emma Stone if I have to choose someone more contemporary
  • Music Instrument: tough one . . . saxophone or cello . . . both have such an ethereal sound . . . learning to play the sax is on my bucket list
  • Car: hmmmmm . . . probably the AC Cobra . . . one day I might have one . . . or that 69 Chevelle . . . muscle car baby
  • Chewing Gum: Polar Ice . . . made the mistake of drinking some cold water after I popped a piece of this in my mouth . . . whoa!
  • TV Program: This is Us . . . I prefer TV shows that have great story lines and really well developed characters who have chemistry
  • One Wish: well, of course I'm going to say that you grow up happy and healthy . . . but my "secret" wish would be to able to put my hand in my pocket and pull out the exact amount of money I need to purchase whatever it is I need/want . . . yeah, kind of shallow, huh? WHATEVER! It's a WISH!
  • Movie: I think we've discussed this . . . tough choice . . . Sound of Music or My Fair Lady . . . pretty sure that won't really change
  • Trip: I don't think I could narrow this one down to one . . . but Australia sure tops the list . . . got to hold a Koala Bear once
  • Singer: Imagine Dragons . . . at least today . . . but for all time, it's really Eric Clapton
  • Dish: I'm sort of partial to Bourbon Glazed Salmon . . . T.G.I.Fridays has a pretty yummy one
  • Animal: black panther . . . they're soooooo mysterious
  • Artist: Wassily Kandinsky . . . I actually discovered him while I was reading a book . . . the author's description sounded intriguing
  • Board Game: not a big fan really . . . I don't mind playing Sorry . . . I wanted the game Mouse Trap when I was a kid . . . never got it
  • Author: Pat Conroy . . . hands down . . . he uses words in such a way that you actually "feel" and "smell" what he's describing
  • Book: I do love ALL of Conroy's books, but I'd have to put A Thousand Splendid Suns on top . . . it was written by Khaled Hosseini . . . the human spirit is amazingly resilient
  • Candy: Erika introduced me to these salted caramels that Milk & Honey makes . . . she works for them right now . .  oh my . . . oh my . . .
  • Season: goes without saying . . . Autumn
  • Ice Cream: Bruster's Key Lime . . . man, tastes just like Key Lime pie!
  • Flower: Gerbera Daisy
  • Restaurant: there's a place here in Knoxville called Sunspot . . . more vegan than anything else . . . their sweet potato fries are delicious . . . their fish tacos are out of this world . . . and their hummus is the bomb!!
  • Sport: that's going to be a toss up I think . . . soccer and rugby rank pretty high . . . but when the Olympics come around, it's diving . . . I always wanted to be a diver
  • Cookie: Oatmeal with cranberries . . . no wait . . . those lemon cookies from Ham and Goodies
  • Drink: everyday drink choice is water . . . yeah, really . . . I'm not a fan of drinking my calories since I like food so much
  • Holiday: Halloween . . . except for the scary elements . . . I don't do scary
  • Poem: The Road Not Taken . . . by Robert Frost
I found this in some old things . . . it was written by my Grandmother Cochran:

You would have loved her . . . your mom's a LOT like her . . . so I suppose, in a way, you do know her! She was the coolest grandmother I knew . . . stylish too!

The Road Not Taken ~ Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
