It's Super Bowl Sunday . . . and all I can do is think about my mom and how much she loved sports! In our house . . . unlike most . . . it wasn't my dad who was the sports fanatic . . . it was Mom. While she was a much bigger baseball fan . . . the Atlanta Braves were her favorite team . . . she liked to watch all kinds of sports. I can't help but think how thrilled she'd be to see that the Atlanta Falcons are playing today . . . not that she was a huge Falcons fan . . . she really preferred the Dallas Cowboys (back in the days of Tom Landry) . . . but you can't be a Georgia girl and not root for the home team!
I wasn't much of a sports fanatic growing up, but if Mom had a game on, I'd usually sit down with her . . . just to spend a little time. I'd always ask questions about the players . . . more often than not, she knew the answers.
My favorite team for most of my life has been the Tampa Bay Buccaneers . . . not because they were ever really any good . . . just because they have pirates on their helmets.
But today . . . if Mom were here . . . I'd be hanging out with her . . . cheering for the Atlanta Falcons . . .
