Dancing with the Stars

Two things happened on FaceBook yesterday that made me stop and close my office door . . . put my head down on my desk . . .

1. Your mom posted this photo . . . again:

2. They announced the celebrity dancers for the new Dancing with the Stars season:

So . . .

A. Your mom's picture post caught me off-guard . . . took a minute to make my heart start again

And . . .

B. Your Great-Grammy and I would have had a conversation tonight about the newest stars of her favorite show. I think she would have been pleased to see Charro (not exactly sure how to describe her), Simone Biles (an Olympic gold medal gymnast), Nancy Kerrigan (a former Olympic silver medal ice skater whose rival literally took her knee out), and Mr T (a TV and movie personality), but she would have fussed about the reality show people (we both agree that these people shouldn't even be considered stars)! Of course neither one of us would know who a couple of them were, so I'd have to Google them . . . read to her their "bios," and we'd chat about them. Mom would get a kick out of the fact that the show has invited David Ross, the first major league baseball player to be ON the show . . . catcher for the Chicago Cubs . . . who just won their first World Series in a gazillion years. We'd probably both agree he probably won't win . . . most of those athletes are extremely graceful in their sport, but that gracefulness doesn't usually translate to the dance floor. But then, there have been athletes who've won the DWTS Mirror Ball Trophy! She'd think it was funny that a Pro Rodeo bull rider is dancing, and we'd both be thrilled that Maks is going to be on the show!

Of course, her last statement would be: "I wish Louis [Van Amstel] were dancing again this year; he's my favorite professional dancer! I don't know why they don't just bring him back!"
