I have no idea who started this crazy holiday, but there are some really imaginative people in this world!
Today is Pi Day . . .
Why? Because 3.14 . . . that's why!
Last year the perfect Pi Day occurred at 9:26am:

I just think it was brilliant . . . and hats off to the person who came up with it!
Nobody really knows how many digits actually follow the decimal point in Pi, but it's used to figure the ratio of a circle's circumference (according to Wikipedia):
