EVERYONE is a little Irish on this day! Lucky you . . . you've got Irish in you . . . from your Great Grammy's side of the family! You are definitely the gold at the end of the rainbow!!
When I was younger, we used to venture into Savannah, Georgia to attend the St Patrick's Day Parade . . . sometimes there were lots of family members that met on "our" corner near the big cathedral. It's actually one of the largest parades in the U.S.
The parade started in 1824 and was originally a military event held to honor St Patrick's day, and except for being interrupted by major wars, it's run every year! Today, at 10:15am, the parade will feature more than 350 marching units . . . it'll start at Gwinnett and Abercorn, generally travels the same route every year, and ends at Madison Square on Harris Street.
After the parade we always hit the riverfront, but that's not really a place for those under the age of 21! Of course, the bars serve green beer . . . occasionally someone will dump something into the Savannah River to turn it green as well (the environmental groups hate that)
